Cozy mode trivializes fights. Normal keeps 100% enemy stats and a small gold penalty on death. Read the combat guide before you lock in Nightmare.
Talk to Tanner outside, then walk west to Farmer Hans. The Getting Started and farming pages cover cleansing tentacles and your first wheat.
Bathing heals and strips curses. Sleeping after 6pm rolls luck events. Staying up stacks both gifts and dangers. See sleep and curses before you skip a night.
