Quick start

New to Elderfield? Follow these steps before you leave the house.

  1. 1

    Install the free Steam demo

Wishlist the full game and download the demo from Steam. Confirm Windows 10, a controller or keyboard, and enough disk space using the system requirements page.

  2. 2

Pick Cozy or a combat preset

Cozy mode trivializes fights. Normal keeps 100% enemy stats and a small gold penalty on death. Read the combat guide before you lock in Nightmare.

  3. 3

Leave the house, then find the farm

Talk to Tanner outside, then walk west to Farmer Hans. The Getting Started and farming pages cover cleansing tentacles and your first wheat.

  4. 4

    Learn sleep, baths, and food

Bathing heals and strips curses. Sleeping after 6pm rolls luck events. Staying up stacks both gifts and dangers. See sleep and curses before you skip a night.

  5. 5

Enter the mall when you have food

The local mall is the first dungeon. Bring cooked meals, a real weapon, and the mall walkthrough before you chase the Hall Monitor.
