Welcome to Elderfield Elderfield Community Art Contest
A closed 2026 contest: locations, characters, enemies, merch prizes, and five featured works.
Welcome to Elderfield ran an official community art competition in summer 2026, while the full Steam PC game was still upcoming. The contest is closed. This page is the record: window, prizes, winners, and where the art community still lives. It is not a new call for entries, and it is not a launch recap. September 10, 2026 remains the dated 1.0 day on the release date page. The demo has been playable since October 2024. Nothing about a postcard prize changes that calendar.
Chris Cote developed the game. Kwalee publishes it. The portraits already wear a horror-manga spine; the contest asked residents to answer that look with their own hands. The artwork video on this page is the studio’s own art talk, not a winner reel. Watch it for line work and mood. Read the list below for who the judges pinned.
What the brief asked for
Draw, paint, or craft one of your favourite locations, characters, or enemies from Welcome to Elderfield. That was the whole prompt. A farm row from the town map, a mall Shopper, a townsfolk portrait, a scarecrow, a god shrine — any of those counted. Digital plates, traditional paint, and physical crafts were in scope. The Steam news post framed it as a lucky die landing on a creative town: Elderfield’s residents were already crafty, and the staff wanted to see the work.
Guidelines and the upload itself lived on a Google Form. Discord was the spectator room. The game’s official links hub still points at that Discord, the Steam news feed, and the store. If you missed the form, you missed the contest. There is no late tray on this wiki.
Dates, and the 3 August confusion
Submissions opened 20 July 2026 at 3pm UTC. They closed 10 August 2026 at 3pm UTC. Steam news stated that window in plain language: three weeks of making things.
Some posts also mentioned 3 August. Treat that as a conflicting secondary date, not as a rewrite of the form. The Google Form window was advertised through 10 August 3pm UTC. If a Discord message, a social graphic, or a friend group used 3 August as a personal deadline, that was tighter than the official form, not a secret earlier lock. When the two disagree, this page follows the Steam post and the advertised Google Form end: 10 August 2026, 3pm UTC.
Winners were announced 17 August 2026. Judging included developer Chris Cote. Five entries were featured in no particular order. There was no public 1st–5th ranking on that announcement, so this wiki will not invent a podium.
Prizes and the wallpaper for everyone
Physical prizes named on the news post:
- An Elderfield postcard
- An Elderfield sticker sheet
- An Elderfield fridge magnet
Those were the contest merch, not in-game items and not a 1.0 deluxe edition. Winning did not unlock a Tentacow, a mall key, or a marriage flag.
Every entrant received a custom desktop wallpaper by email. That mail-out was the participation floor: you submitted, you got wallpaper, even if your piece was not in the five. If you entered and never saw the file, check spam and the address you put on the form. This wiki cannot resend it.
The five featured works (no ranking)
Announced 17 August 2026, picked with Chris Cote, in no particular order:
- Celeste Bookmaster by Nihil_Nova
- entry by Maddie.fingerpaints
- SLEEP by Sniff
- Blorph by ClaymenTina
- Moss Canny (Mr.Nightmare) by Stormtrooper Art
Keep the titles as written. Celeste Bookmaster is a piece name, not a claim about another studio’s mountain climber. SLEEP is a title, not a new curse table. Blorph is the work’s name as announced. Moss Canny carries the Mr.Nightmare tag in parentheses because that is how it was listed.
Do not treat this list as a complete gallery of every submission. It is the five the announcement chose to hold up. The rest of the pile still belongs to the people who made it.
Discord is still the art room
The news post sent non-entrants to Discord, where an art community already existed. That room did not close when the form did. Fan work continues: portraits in the Junji Ito register, mall ink, farm comics, Manga Mode screenshots that look like plates. Share there if you want neighbors. Do not open a new Google Form because this page exists.
This site is an unofficial fan wiki. It is not Kwalee and not Ill-Advised Games. We log the contest because players search for it. We do not host the files, judge reprints, or mail magnets.
What this contest is not
It is not a 1.0 ship party. The full game was still dated after the winner post. Do not read a sticker sheet as proof the store unlocked. The updates hub is the timeline: date page, demo notes, this recap.
It is not a replacement for the in-game Art Gallery. 1.0 design talk has described dungeon skulls and gallery pieces on the road to a final door. That is a play system. This contest was community merch and wallpaper.
It is not an invitation to paste AI spam into Discord and call it a late entry. The form is shut. The brief was draw, paint, or craft.
After the form closed
If you want to play, the demo is the rehearsal and the wiki overview is the systems map. If you want to make more art, use Discord and tag it as fan work, not as a contest submission. If you want official news, follow Steam and the links hub. If you only needed the winner names, you can stop after the five bullets.
The competition did what a good community contest does: it gave the town extra portraits before the September 10, 2026 build, mailed wallpaper to everyone who tried, and then ended on time. The farm still wants water. The form does not.
