Welcome to Elderfield has worn more than one hardware label. This page records both, because players still search for the N4100 line they saw in 2024 coverage and the i5-11600K line they see on Steam now. The rule is simple: trust the live Steam store page. This wiki is a snapshot. Specs change. The parent tools hub links here beside the first-week planner.

The game is a single-player PC title dated September 10, 2026, built in RPG Maker MZ by Chris Cote and published by Kwalee. RPG Maker games often run below a flashy marketing minimum. If your laptop is closer to the old demo notes than the new store copy, boot the free demo (playable since October 2024) before you argue with a GPU chart.

Spec set A — older demo / press notes

These numbers showed up on earlier store copy and in roundups of the alpha demo:

• OS: Windows 8.1 (32-bit or 64-bit)
• CPU: Intel N4100 or similar
• RAM: 4 GB
• Graphics: DirectX 9 / OpenGL 4.1 class GPU
• DirectX: 9.0
• Storage: 1 GB
• Notes: performance toggles for low-end devices

Recommended copy in that era pointed at Windows 10, an i3-6100 class CPU, 8 GB RAM, and still DX9. Steam itself has since moved the client off Windows 8.1, so even if the game runtime is light, the launcher may want Windows 10. Treat set A as “the demo ran on modest machines,” not as a promise that 2026 Steam will install on an unsupported OS.

Spec set B — newer Steam store copy

The current marketing block looks like a different game:

• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 570

Recommended (same store block) repeats the 64-bit OS and 1280×768 floor, then asks for 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1650 / RX 570 4GB (or RX 5500 / 5300) class GPU. CPU lines often match the minimum in that copy, which is a hint you are reading a conservative publisher template as much as a measured bench.

How to read the contradiction

Set B is what you should assume Steam will enforce in the listing. Set A is what many demo players actually used. Both can be true. A 2D RPG Maker horror farm does not need an 11th-gen K-series chip in a lab sense. A publisher still might paste that chip into the form. If you are under set B and over set A, download the demo. If the demo is smooth, you have your answer better than this table. If the demo chokes, lower resolution to 1280×768, disable extra effects, and try again before you buy a GPU for tentacle farming.

Storage doubled from 1 GB to 2 GB in the newer copy. Budget the 2 GB number. Saves, Cloud, and future patches will not get smaller.

Steam Deck, controllers, Cloud, Achievements

Kwalee announced Steam Deck Verified in late August 2026. Verified means Valve’s checklist passed for install, performance, controls, and display without mandatory player gymnastics. Always re-check the badge on the live app page; badges can move.

Older Deck reports (including a Proton crash on Hotfix/Experimental that Proton 9.0-4 avoided) are historical. If your Deck still dies on a splash screen after the Kwalee logo, try a named Proton version and look at current Steam discussions before you assume the game is unsupported. This page will not pretend 2024 Proton drama is still the 2026 default.

Full controller support is listed. Keyboard and mouse work. Bind issues after a patch belong on controls, not here.

Steam Cloud and Achievements are store features. Cloud does not replace a manual backup if you are about to test Nightmare. Achievements do not require online friends; the game is single-player.

Languages versus this wiki

Steam lists English (full audio) plus French, German, Spanish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Portuguese as interface and subtitles. This wiki covers English, French, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese pages. It does not ship Chinese or Russian wiki locales. In-game language is a first-page options toggle, not a reinstall.

Practical pre-flight

1. Open the live Steam page for app 3195440 and read the spec block there.
2. Confirm Windows 10 64-bit if you are buying the 2026 build.
3. Confirm 2 GB free and 1280×768.
4. Plug in a controller if that is how you play; it is supported.
5. If you are near the old N4100 / 4 GB profile, boot the demo first.
6. Deck players: confirm Verified, then play. If it fails, note Proton version before you rage at the farm.
7. Then follow the first-week planner instead of benchmarking scarecrows.

Elderfield should be one of the lighter games on your drive. The demanding part is the Hall Monitor, not the shader. If you came here from a “can I run it” search, the honest answer is: probably yes if the demo runs, and the live Steam page still wins every argument this wiki starts.
