Welcome to Elderfield Secrets, Art Gallery, and True Ending

Xxarteck, the Stone Tower climb, gallery key, and what waits at the top.

Secrets and Endgame

Welcome to Elderfield’s endgame has three pillars: the Art Gallery key, the Stone Tower climb, and the Emissary of Xxarteck at the summit. The full PC game is dated September 10, 2026. This page assumes you have completed the main demo loop — mall cleared, furnaces running, and the townsfolk roster reasonably warm. The game is single-player. There are no co-op shortcuts to the top.

How the endgame unlocks

Three dungeon skulls feed the Art Gallery: the mall’s Skull of the Mall from the Mall Administrator, the Catacombs skull from the Soul of the Catacombs, and the Old Woods skull from the Ancient Tree or Ancient Mushroom. Complete all three gallery rooms and the gallery produces a key. That key opens the Stone Tower door on the farm.

The Stone Tower is the final climb. Six floors of escalating encounters, each harder than the last, ending with Xxarteck’s Emissary. This is not a surprise boss — developer posts on Patreon and Discord named it the final door before 1.0 shipped. The achievements page lists all six difficulty-based clears from Cozy Tower through Custom Tower.

The Art Gallery sits in a dedicated building accessible once you have explored enough of the world. Each of the three rooms is keyed to a dungeon skull:

  • Mall room — Feed the Skull of the Mall from the Administrator fight.
  • Catacombs room — Feed the skull from the Soul of the Catacombs deep in the Catacombs dungeon.
  • Old Woods room — Feed the skull from the Ancient Tree or Ancient Mushroom in the Old Woods.

Filling all three rooms produces the gallery key. This key is required to open the Stone Tower door on the farm. Do not sell or discard any of the three skulls. The mall dungeon page covers the Administrator fight. Catacombs and Old Woods are 1.0 zones beyond the demo slice.

The Stone Tower — farm to summit

The tower door appears on the farm once the gallery key exists. Six floors of fixed encounters, each designed around a specific difficulty bracket. Bring food, bathe before entry, and save at the bed. The layout does not shuffle — this is a planned ascent, not a mine scramble.

The six floors scale enemy HP and damage. Lower difficulties let you brute-force with a good food stack. Nightmare and Custom require real loadout planning: element weakness charts, AP management, and blessing stacking from the Old Gods system.

Floor six holds the Emissary of Xxarteck. This is the final boss. Defeating it triggers the Savior of Elderfield achievement and the ending sequence.

Xxarteck and the true ending

Xxarteck is the God of the end of all things. The farm next to their shrine was deliberately placed to weaken their power through the presence of life and growth. When the farm fell into disrepair, the shrine’s influence returned. Your task is to reclaim that ground and end the threat.

The Emissary is not a standard enemy. Bring your best week: align with a god that covers your weakness (Kaal or Nezroth for defense, Valtris for keys and MP), cook a full stack of dense meals, and review the combat page for AP math. The Emissary has no flee option from the fight — you committed when you entered the tower.

The ending sequence plays after the Emissary falls. What plays depends on choices made throughout the save: relationships, Old God alignment, and which difficulty was cleared. The Old Gods page covers Xxarteck’s lore and why the farm matters to their weakening.

Old Woods and Catacombs — the 1.0 zones

The demo covers town, mall, and the beginner mine. Old Woods and Catacombs are the 1.0 additions that feed the Art Gallery and the tower:

  • Old Woods — Foraging zone with exclusive mushrooms (see foraging), the Ancient Mushroom, Ancient Tree, and the path to Old Woods Mines. Also holds the Old Gods shrine for Xxarteck and a second alignment room for Delvek, Kaal, Hagroth, and Nezroth.
  • Catacombs — Multi-floor dungeon under the town, accessible through multiple entrances. Holds the Soul of the Catacombs skull, alignment rooms for Gatis and Valtris, and the deeper secrets that the demo only hints at through TV news and Pete’s ritual teachings.

Both zones were described in developer Patreon posts as three times the demo town in exploration space. Do not expect to clear them in a single run. The first-week planner covers the demo loop; the endgame here assumes you have already lived that week several times over.

Preparing for the climb

A practical prep sequence before tower entry:

  1. Confirm all three gallery skulls are in inventory — do not enter the tower without the key.
  2. Cook a full meal stack for six floors, not the two-meal snack you used for Hall Monitor.
  3. Bathe to clear all active curses and reset the world.
  4. Align with a god that covers your build. See the Old Gods rotation guide for which Sunday falls before your climb.
  5. Manual save at the bed.
  6. Enter the tower at full HP and MP with food for at least six encounters.

If you clear the tower on Cozy, you get Cozy Tower. If you clear on Normal, you get Normal Tower and Cozy Tower simultaneously. The six difficulty achievements are described fully on the achievements page.

Common mistakes

  • Entering the tower without the gallery key. The door will not open.
  • Selling one of the three skulls. They are required, not optional.
  • Skipping baths before entry. Curses compound across tower floors.
  • Entering on an empty food stack. Six floors of fixed fights require real meals.
  • Treating the Emissary as a gear-check boss when it is a full-build boss. Review combat, not only equipment.

The tier list and guides hub have the systems that get you to this point. The endgame is not a separate game — it is Elderfield with everything unlocked and everything hostile.
